Army Air Forces Balloon Pilot wings, featuring the distinctive parachute and outstretched wings design worn by Army balloon pilots and aeronauts during the wartime period. This badge is a die-struck silver example with sharply defined feather detail, raised parachute canopy at center, and period-correct construction. The reverse shows the original dual vertical pin posts, consistent with WWII manufacture, and retains its authentic wartime patina.Balloon Pilot wings are among the scarcer aviation-related insignia of the Second World War, issued to personnel trained in tethered and barrage balloon operations for coastal defense, artillery spotting, and aerial observation.
