WW2 US Army Air Corps A-2 Flight Jacket Identified & Leather Blood Chit Patch
Very nice condition WW2 A-2 flight jacket with all original patches, Crown Zipper, cuffs & waistband. Named leather tag and sterling Pilots Wings. Shoulders have leather Captain's bars under pinned Major's leaf. Leather Blood Chit patch on back, and jacket has the original lining inside. About a size 40 but missing makers label.

This a very nice, near excellent, WW2 A-2 flight jacket worn by a pilot in the 14th Air Force CBI. The leather is in excellent condition with no rips, tears, or repairs. The original interior lining is in very good condition and the Crown Zipper is original and works great.

It has the original cuffs and waistband. The jacket is about a size 40 but is missing the maker label. The jacket has the 14th Squadron leather patch on the front and above it the sterling Pilot's Wings and just above his patch are his sterling Pilot's Wings. The shoulders have the leather winged star of the Air Corps and the CBI leather patch, both in great condition. The top of the shoulders has leather Captain's Bars and pinned over these are Major's Leaves.

The 14th Air Force was established in 1943 and has an extensive history on the role they played in the Pacific Theater. They took on the designation of the Flying Tigers after the AVG was disbanded.

There is extensive history on the planes they flew including P-40's, P-51's, and B-25's, and their missions. It would be interesting to research the military history of Captain McDonald.
