WW2 US Army Air Forces B-17 Bomber Tail Gunner Canvas Cover Rear Gunner & Tanks

There are five empty Oxygen Tanks, two Training Bombs, and a Canvas Window Cover. There items are over 70 years old and are in Used Condition with wear damage from use. The canvas window cover is a SUPER RARE Second World War era United States Army Air Forces canvas cover for the window of a Tali Gunner position on a B-17 Flying Fortress.

This canvas cover is marked, COVER REAR GUNNER SPECIFICATION NO. 98-26751-F MODEL B - 17G DOUGLAS AIRCRAFT CO. 14 - 3315 DATE OF MFG.

This is a vintage 1950s era Surplus Store price. Many military surplus stores in the 1950s to the 1960s would mark prices on canvas items. I show some reference photos that are not offered for sale in this listing. Only the canvas cover, and five oxygen tanks, and two Training Bombs are offered here for sale. Some of the reference photos show the Tail Gunner position on the back of a B-17 Flying Fortress.

Other reference photos show oxygen tanks being used in B-17 Bombers. One of the 4 large size Oxygen Tanks has been altered into a welding stand. One of the large size Oxygen Tanks is the less common silver color tanks.

There is a small size Oxygen tank used by crewmen as they walk around inside the bomber aircraft. The men carry the small size tank with them. The two Training Bombs are empty.

They only ever had sand or water inside them to give them weight as flyers did practice training bombing runs. Some Training Bombs were used as signs hanging outside Officer Clubs at Air Bases. Most of the photos do not show canvas covers, but a color photo shows the canvas cover for the twin machine guns on the tail of the aircraft. The canvas cover in the color photo is the same color, and made of the same type of canvas as the window cover that is offered here for sale. The canvas window cover offered here for sale has a couple of small window rip holes from use. It is over 70 years old and in Used Condition. It is a SUPER RARE WW2 era item. The cardboard box I modeled the canvas cover is also not offered for sale in this listing. Only the canvas cover, and two oxygen tanks are offered for sale. It is a SUPER-RARE Item. Each large size Oxygen tank is around 25 Inches, by 12 Inches, by 12 Inches in size. One tank has an attachment that makes it about 30 Inches long. Each large size tank Oxygen Tank weighs around 20 pounds LBS.

The small size tank is around under 26 Inches by, 6 Inches by, 6 Inches in size. It weighs around 5 pounds LBS. Each Training Bomb weighs around 20 pounds LBS. They measure around, 8 Inches by 8 Inches by 72 Inches in size. I think all the items weigh around 130 pounds LBS.

The package will be huge. Page number 145 of the December 25, 1942 publication titled, "B-17F Airplane Pilot's Flight Operating Instructions", had information about this type of U. There is a section 7. Airplane and engine protective covers, consisting of tarpaulins with ropes for securing the airplane, will be used on the wings, tail surfaces, and fuselage to provide protection against frost accumulation, Engines and compartment enclosures should be covered also.

This reference book is not offered for sale with the canvas window cover. This WW2 period reference book give information about how this type of canvas cover is used to keep ice off of the aircraft. It was probably an item used during the Winter.

It can get cold and snow in England where many Army Air force Bomber air bases existed. All that is for sale here is the super rare Window cover, and the two empty Oxygen tanks. These items are old and in Used Condition with wear damage from use.

California: Unfortunately, I do not sell to anyone inside the state of California. I only do outside California sales. For Legal reasons, the items in this listing are stated as "Used Condition".

What is a "Used Condition" item? It is an item that is in "Poor Terrible Condition".

They are better condition than "Dug Relic Condition" items. Items are no longer like how they were the day they were first manufactured.

Items have been used by someone Decades ago in another Century. Items will have defects and damage from having been used. The older something is, the worse the condition will be. Wool items will have Moth holes. Expect Moth damage to old wool items. Expect clothing to have dirt stains, frayed cuffs and collars. Expect there to be Mildew and Mold damage stains. Expect buttons to be broken or missing. Expect zippers to be broken and non functional.

Expect size tags to be missing or damaged. Expect leather items to be dried out and cracked.

Hats will be crushed and bent out of shape. Do not expect clothing to fit you, it is not your size.

Expect oxidation and rust on the metal parts. Expect items to be faded from having been exposed to sun light. Expect metal items to have dents, scratches, and paint loss. Expect items to have microscopic fractures when looked at under a microscope. Expect Electronic items to no longer work or be functional.

These items are old and things slowly get destroyed by time. Please do not expect something in "New Condition", or "Good Condition". These items are in "Used Condition", and are Relics from another Century. The vintage items I list for sale are not wearable clothing, or usable items. These items are old and damaged from use.

The item was rough weighed in an open box. I have mailed items in the past to: Brazil, United Kingdom, France, Italy, Netherlands, Australia, Canada, Malta, Hungry, Belgium, Taiwan, etc. The local Post Office gives those boxes out to use. They have lost items I have mailed. I'm trying to be 100% up front and honest.

I mostly only leave other people feedback after they leave me feedback. Chances are, if you don't leave me any feedback I'll probably not leave you any either. I try to be 100% Honest and show photos and describe items the best I can. Items tend to be old, used, and as is. Feel free to ask me a question. If I see a size marking on an old Quartermaster Tag, I will try to show a photo of it. If I say that I do not know the size than please do not waste both of our time by asking about the size of an old militaria collectable. I also tend to have items packaged away to try and keep moths from eating them.

I only dig them out if they sell and need to be mailed. Please do not ask me to take more photos, because I probably won't take any more photos of things I have already stored away.
