World War II 15th Army Air Force Patch. The Italy Theater Made Patch features Heavy Gold bullion on a black or very dark Navy blue background. The Red Dot to the Star appears to be silk embroidery. The patch was worn by the men who flew and serviced in the B24 Liberator Bombers that undertook the heroic Ploesti Mission among many other important, dangerous missions in the European Theater. The 15th also included the fabled Tuskegee Airmen Fighter Pilots and ground crew. The bullion retains most of its glitter and the hand crafted patch is of very high quality. It was removed from a uniform. This patch is also out of my personal collection. The Theater Made 15th AAF Patch is at least 75 years old, probably older, and in fair plus condition.
