Vtg Militaria WW2 Era US Army Air Corps Officer Cap Bancroft's Zephyr Fur Felt
Vtg Militaria WW2 era US Army Air Corps Officer Cap Bancroft's Zephyr OD Fur Felt. Believe this Cap to be from late 1930's - 40's. It is a Bancroft Uniform Headwear Imported English Fur Felt OD Green and Russet Brown Leather with 13 Star Golden Eagle Emblem and Buttons. The Hat is in very good condition for it's age showing normal Wear. The Felt has one very tiny pin hole on the top and shows some minor dirt/wear of the felt near the peak. This looks like the former owner's favorite place to grab his cap when putting on/taking off/adjusting. The underside of the leather visor has stain/wear from his fingers(skin/oil).

There is Tarnish on the Eagle Emblem and also looks like Emblem has a slight bend at top where it aligns with top of Cap. I did not try to clean the tarnish or the cap felt. It is much better knowing this is pretty much how it looked when the Officer took it off his head for the last time.

I believe this hat was known as a "Flighter" as the cap still has the yellow support band/rope inside. Our guys would remove this so they could wear their Headsets over their caps when in Aircraft-hence obtaining the name "Crusher" Hat.
