Original WW2 Tan Top USAAF Officer Visor Cap with Eagle. This is an all original hard to find uniform item from World War II, it is NOT a modern reproduction and we have only one available. It is a very nice example of a non-regulation World War II United States Army Air Force Officer's visor cap of a type and style very much favored by officers who loved the appearance of "pinks". It is in very good used condition with its original chinstrap still held in place by two gilt US Army threaded stud buttons.
It is about size 7 with a very nice visor, a clean top and its original beautifully detailed, die-struck metal golden spread eagle. The photo directly above shows a very similar World War II cap on the front cover and page 48 of the very authoritative book GOVERNMENT ISSUE - U. ARMY EUROPEAN THEATER OF OPERATIONS COLLECTOR'S GUIDE - VOLUME II.The only owner or manufacturing information in the cap is on the inside of the original pliable leather sweatband in the position next to the wearer's right eyebrow. Unfortunately, the data stamped there is difficult to read and we can't tell you what it says. On the other hand, we have taken a very good picture of it so you can give it a read. We bought the visor cap locally in Rapid City, South Dakota years ago along with other USAAF material. Rapid City is the home of what during World War II was the Rapid City Army Air Base, a facility that trained hundreds of B-17 bomber pilots and crews (now Ellsworth Air Force Base, a B1 bomber base).
Many photos exist of this variant visor cap being worn with "pink" shirts and trousers by Army Air Force personnel all over the world during World War II. Our photos show the actual World War II US visor cap offered for sale. Have a look at the near-new military aviation photo books. And other WW2 military collectibles. CONDITION: exactly as shown, no odor.
We sell everything as a surplus curio or relic "as is-where is", with no implied or other warranties of any kind given, and which may or may not be useful for its original or intended purpose.
