This vintage 1940s/1950s navy blue Sand Knit button up sweater has 3 gold stripes on the left sleeve to signify rank? Includes an Army Air Corps lapel pin as well as an original WWII era Army Air Corps patch in one of the pockets.
This sweater does not have any tags at all. I have another knit sweater listed that includes a s. Ewn tag on inside front which is Sand Knit Athletic Knitwear - Sand Knitting Mills Co. Chicago and another sewn patch has G. Beauchamp embroidered in gold thread.
Sewn distributors tag on the inside collar is "Gordon Bent - Green Bay Sporting Goods" with a Size 36 tag directly below it. These two sweaters are from the same estate but I do not have the provenance. I believe this sweater to be 1940s/50s U. Military related but I cannot find anything similar.
It very well could be college/university sweater but the gold stripes on the sleeve are puzzling. Size: Unknown - No tags. Length (complete from top of rear collar to bottom hem): 24 inches. Pit to pit: 20 inches.Sleeve length from shoulder to end of unrolled cuff: 23 inches (cuff itself measures 5). Shoulder to Shoulder: 19 inches.
