WWII US Army Field Jacket M43 Sergeant Stylized Theater Tailored Air Corps WW2

Here is a one of a kind, stylized, overseas tailored. World War II US Army M1943 Field Jacket. The OD Cotton M43 Jacket has had russet leather trim and collars added to accentuate lines and the jacket. A professional tailor, most likely overseas, modified and stylized this Field Jacket using what appears to be an Army Air Corps A2 Flight Jacket's russet leather. That leads me to believe the Sergeant probably was an airman, not a soldier.

Someone at a show told me they had once see an M1941 tailored similarly but never an M43. The stitching and enhancements were down by a very talented tailor. In the scheme of the millions of M1943 Jacket made, maybe a handful have been modified as such.

This comes out of my collection. I acquired this from a noted northeast collector who has had many of his US items photographed for display in reference books. The Airman or Soldier wore this jacket, it is soiled, is intact and only has had 1 of 2 buttons on each cuff removed, ostensibly by design. The Sergeant's customized Field Jacket. Is in fair, actually worn condition and 74 years old.

Army M1943 Field Jacket; Custom Stylized. Overseas Modified with Leather Trim, Collars. Most likely professionally tailored overseas; russet leather additions similar to A2 flight jacket leather. Retains ties, all buttons, pocket flaps, throat strap.

OD cotton shell, russet leather trim vibrant. Jacket was worn, soiling to exterior and pocket interiors.

Spotting, 1 button hole is torn (hidden front button), 1 of 2 buttons on cuffs removed (by design). Leather is pliable, has crazing from wear, age, folding. Measures 20 inches chest, 18 inches through waist, 24 inches sleeves. Domestic buyers offered Discounted Expedited Service, box, tracking.
