WWII US Army 9th Air Force Fighter Pilot POW Uniform Grouping Medal Jacket Patch

This is an absolutely amazing named grouping to a vet that served with the 9th AAF 10th Photographic Recon Group & The 15th Tactical Recon Squadron during WWII. Ristau (from Eau Claire Wisconsin) was shot down in his P-51 Mustang over Nazi occupied France July 18, 1944 while flying a recon mission in preparation for D-Day.

Lt Ristau was captured by the Germans and held in a POW Camp until he was liberated April 29, 1945. This grouping was given to a fellow collector in 1992 by the vets brother, and there is copy of a letter written by him explaining the events of his Lt.

Ristau's service to his country. This is a huge and very extensive grouping that includes the vets, foot locker and a large array of his items including his uniform, and many other items. The Officers Ike jacket I believe is English tailored, and is in beautiful condition. Please see the photos for description of this grouping as I have included many.

Note: this grouping has been in storage for many years and smells of mothballs which is a good thing because there is no moth damage to any of the uniform pieces, but I thought I should mention it for folks who cant stand the smell.
