Veteran Grouping, consisting of a Hand-Engraved Brass Tankard and Scrapbook! These all belonged to 1st. Austin of the 350th Fighter Group, who served in Africa. Belonging to the estate of Captain later Lt. Colonel Lewis Austin of the 305th Fighter Group, this grouping consists of a SUPERBLY engraved tankard, and military/personal scrapbook!

The Tankard is engraved with a highly detailed and well-labeled map of North Africa, charting the American advances from the Operation Torch landings in Morocco and Algeria in November of 1942, as well as the British push westward from El Alamein, culminating in the meeting of the two forces and the surrender of the Afrika Korps in May of 1943. The engraving also states, "The brass used in the manufacture of the mug was salvaged from various North African battlefields". A slight dent to the bottom, with scattered spots of tarnish overall.

One of the NICEST hand-engraved tankards I have ever seen, I have shown the full engraved map in a panoramic style in photo #4. Also included is the scrapbook of Capt. 45 pages, it contains numerous maps, brochures, telegrams, letters, newspaper clippings, matchbooks and other articles of ephemera related to his stateside postings as well as his service in North Africa. The most notable include his original patches from the 3rd and 12th Army Air Force, menus from the U.

A VERY NICE set, it would make a SUPERB addition to any collection or display! Most of my items are vintage, and as such are AS-IS, so you must therefore expect a degree of wear due to age and/or usage. Although my passion is the Me109, I do offer many other German Aircraft Fw190, Me262, etc. , as well as USAF and Japanese items. Occasionally I do offer many non-vintage items such as prints and art relating to the time period.
