Rare U. S. Wwii Army Air Corps D-2 Walk Around Oxygen Bottle & Bag B-17 B-24

WWII Army Air Corp Type D-2 Breathing Oxygen & Bag. WWII Army Air Corp Type D-2 Breathing Oxygen w/ khaki carrying bag. The Type D-2 oxygen tanks were used in B-17 Bombers. This type of tank is a walk-around tank. If a crew member needed to get back to the rear of the aircraft, he would disconnect his oxygen at his station and connect the D-2 tank to walk to the rear of the bomber. The D-2 was essentially used by any crew member to move about the plane. The D-2 tank has its original yellow primer. It has black stencil lettering on the side of the tank. BREATHING OXYGEN, NON-SHATTERABLE, TYPE D-2 SPEC.

94-40355, INTERNAL VOLUME 500 CUBIC INCHES, AVAILABLE OXYGEN FROM 400 TO 50 LBS. SQ INCH PRESSURE IS 6.9 Cubic feet. The head of the cylinder has a regulator with a pounds per square inch gauge. This D-2 oxygen breathing tanks comes with a khaki colored bag that the cylinder slips into. It has tie straps and an adjustable shoulder strap.

The case is well marked. It has blackink printed on the canvas. It reads, CYLINDER & REGULATOR, ASSEMBLY-DWG. The cylinder is approximately 24 inches long and a diameter of 6 inches.

The overall length is approximately 28 long to the end of the regulator. The tank has all the yellow paint. This would make a great addition to the WWII Bomber Crew display.
