Vintage 1944 World War II, A. F. US Army Air Corps Elgin A-11 Hacking Watch

Case: Steel screw-down waterproof type back and bezel. Dmensions: 32mm across without the crown, 39.50mm lug to lug. Crown: Original crown shows wear, but perfectly functional. Dial: Original dial in good to excellent condition with aged numerals and hands. Movement: Manual wind movement, with hacking, in good non-working condition.

Like a balky PFC, tapping on the watch will get the second hand to move forward a few seconds. Needs a little "retraining" to get the watch to run properly, but I can not get the case open without scratching it, and the local watch service guy has a waiting list of 18 months. Band: Original Leather band shows wear. Overall condition: Very good with evidence of some wear and age. The Elgin A-11 was issued beginning in September, 1944.
