Original WW2 US Army Officer Air Corps Bancroft Flighter Brown Crusher Visor Hat

Overall good to very good overall condition with a been there look to it. This one has seen service, you can see the thumb mark left from taking the hat on and off, looks like he was right handed. Couple of small moth nips on the top and along the band but these are quite small and although there not very noticeable. Sweat shield on the top of the hat has turned dark brown, the silver stamp on the inside reads Genuine Controlled Flighter by Bancroft Pat. This is a WW2 issue hat, the later post war ones had the actual patent number stamped in the liner band.

These Bancroft's were an affordable alternative during WW2 for their cost and simplicity of tucking in a jacket pocket and have become quite popular recently with collectors. Could not find a size stamp but the measurements are approximately 21 to 21 1/2 inches around on the inside.
